Maybe smaller scale. It seems like they might each get a recurring opponent, so they might be powered up a bit - by digivolution or otherwise - to properly face off with the kids, only for the kids to get a digivolution and win. Or something. Idk.

That's what I'm thinking. Dracumon will probably digivolve to get revenge and Angoramon will digivolve to stop him.

The horror vibe really works for Digimon. I'm really enjoying this series. And Gammamon is always adorable!

I like Angoramon already, he's badass and fluffy! Also this episode was legit creepy, and reinforces the fact that Ghost Game is making Digimons actual dangerous beings to humans... however, I think they're sparing these Digimon way too easy, I mean I understand forgiving Mummymon but Dracmon is one of those dangerous Digimon that you cannot just let go...

Makes me wonder how much these new Diginestined will stop being merciful enough so that they need to start killing evil Digimon, because that's what's gonna happen down the line.

Yes almost getting killed is pretty light on the horror scale. There's no actual deaths, the bodily harm is very minor (only scrapes and bruises), all of these make it in the kid-friendly section of horror. The only thing arguably on the scarier end are the psychological implications, like developing PTSD from aging so fast and then reverting, or terrors about having your hands disappearing and then still getting cured. That's actually one of the main things that keeps this on the friendlier level, that everything is (mostly) fixed at the end of it. Yes some of the Digimon that caused these problems are still going, but the problems they caused were fixed, which helps put minds at ease.

You want some real fucked up horror in Digimon? Try the scene in Cyber Sleuth where they trapped people in digital versions of their rooms, unable to leave that room or even logout of cyberspace. One person was saved, but untold others were shown still stuck in there, most were likely to die, or even have their bodies harvested. Also all those people that were in the digital rooms had their likenesses made into lifelike dolls in the real world, for other people to buy and use for any purpose they desired.

yes , it's very light.
It avoids all kinds of violence and doesn't go too far on the body horror.
Also everybody gets saved at the end.

I feel that Ghost Game will fall into the category is one of the most mature/darkest Digimon shows ever, the things that are happening in this show are too dark and the best comparison I can get is with Tamers... now, will it go as dark as Tamers? Only time will tell.

I personally love the darker tone of the anime. Wish we would see more of it in digimon
